History
1854 (first year of Ansei)
Kohyo Kato, the founder of the Saimei school, was born in Hasumi Village, Mikawa Province. His father is Kiju, and he has run a village headman for generations. He is said to be a descendant of Yoshiaki Kato.
1887 (Meiji 20)
Kato Kohyo establishes the Saimei school. Even if the eyes lose their light, the fireworks never fade. A stone monument is still left in the birthplace of the Saimei school.
1926 (Taisho 15)
Founded KATO FIREWORKS.
1948 (Showa 23)
With the resumption of fireworks production permission after the war, the production of parachute fireworks, which had been devised before the war, started. Started exporting both fireworks and toy fireworks.
1953 (Showa 28)
Established KATO FIREWORKS Co., Ltd.
1960 (Showa 35)
The factory was relocated from Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture to Kota Town, Nukata District, Aichi Prefecture due to the urbanization of the surrounding area.
1960s-1970s
Reach the peak of exports.
1980s
Expand the fireworks display business.
1993 (Heisei 5)
Established one explosives storage in Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture.
1990s
Withdrew from toy fireworks production and integrated into the launch fireworks business.
1997 (Heisei 9)
Introduction of ignition system using computer.
1998 (Heisei 10)
Won the National Fireworks Festival (Omagari City, Akita Prefecture).
2002 (Heisei 14)
Winner of the Lake Suwa National New Fireworks Festival
2004 (Heisei 16)
Established one explosives storage in Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture.
2008 (Heisei 20)
Together with contemporary artist Cai Guo-Qiang, set off black fireworks at the Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima.
2010 (Heisei 22)
Started theme park business.
2012 (Heisei 24)
Expanded and refurbished Kota factory.
2013 (Heisei 25)
Succeeded in developing strobe fireworks in pastel colors.
2015 (Heisei 27)
Started organizer support business.
2020 (Reiwa2)
Started new business to deal with Corona Disaster, such as setting off fireworks at multiple locations.
2022 (Reiwa4)
Renovated Kota factory. Started wholesale business of strobe fireworks.
